10 PERCENT OF THE BRAIN MYTH
Being the main organ of our nervous the brain is probably the most complex part of the human body. It has yet to be fully broken down and understood. Compared to all of the other mammals us being humans have the most developed cerebral cortex. The Cortex plays a huge role in who we are as humans, this is the main reason why we are more developed than certain animals when it comes to memory, awareness, language, thought, and consciousness. There has been a myth about our brain that started around the late 1800’s to early mid 1900’s stating that we only use on average about ten percent of our brain. When you really think about that idea it seems preposterous. How can the brain be able to do so much but yet we can only use so little. Imagine having access to only one more percent of your brainpower and person may be able to take over the world. The Myth so goes that if you are able to gain the ability to use more than the “10 percent” then you will gain super human abilities such as reading minds or even phasing through objects. When you look into research done on the brain you don’t see any evidence stating that we only use ten percent of our brain. The main sources that will support this myth you will find watching movies or reading comic books. Real research has been done and this has led into many other articles being written scholarly or just a plain news article that will debunk this myth and show how this thought was wrong as soon as it was brought up. |
